Charman Hayes

Charman Hayes serves as the Executive Vice President of People and Capability for Mastercard’s Technology division, where she aligns talent strategies with the company’s technical and financial goals. She leads initiatives to enhance Mastercard’s engineering culture, focusing on recruiting, retaining, and developing top technology talent. Her previous roles include leading HR for BlackRock’s Aladdin Product Group and overseeing Technology and Fintech HR at Brown Brothers Harriman. Charman’s extensive experience also includes leadership roles at Lehman Brothers/Barclays and Morgan Stanley. She holds a Master of Science degree from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree from Rosemont College.

Sustainable Web Development: Website Redesign with a Low Carbon Footprint

Before the pixels hit the screen, we laid the groundwork for sustainability by planning our website’s structure. Information architecture is a key part of the design process. A well-structured architecture makes information easy to find and understand for the visitors of a website. We wrote down a map of all the pages and all the content for each page, doing our best to ensure that the content is intuitively organized and easy to navigate. A strong attention was placed on the header and the footer structure to minimize the number of clicks needed to find the content. In a future iteration of the website, we plan to implement search by keyword to make content even easier to find.
