October 3, 2018 – Women Who Code San Diego marked our 1st birthday with a celebration bash held at PlayStation! We cannot believe how fast this year has gone and we are also happy to announce that we have grown our community to over 1000 + members in our first year. Our year was packed with many  great events as we aimed to hold several meet-up events every month!

First, guests were welcomed to food, drinks, and Cravory cookies while they mingled.

We encouraged everyone to sign our birthday card and enter our raffle.

Guests also had fun with the photo booth and trying out the PlayStation VR.

The Women Who Code San Diego directors Leslie Pajuelo, Jillian Moore, and Luisa Giuffrida welcomed guests and gave an overview on all that we have accomplished in our first year. Speakers Alaina Percival (CEO, Board Chair, and co-founder of Women Who Code) and Shawn Layden (Chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios and WWCode Board Member) touched on the importance and value of a community like Women Who Code and how it helps to foster inclusivity, diversity, and meaningful connections with peers.

Finally, we had some great prizes to raffle off. One lucky winner won the grand prize of a Spider-Man PlayStation bundle!

Thank you to everyone who helped out and joined us in celebrating our 1st birthday. We hope to celebrate many more in the future! Thank you to all the volunteers and companies that we have partnered with throughout the year. We could not have achieved all that we have without you. Huge thank you to PlayStation for hosting our event and continuously offering your support to our community!
