WWCode CONNECT Leadership Summit – It Begins

The air is buzzing with a sense of anticipation, as the registration table opens and Women Who Code Directors and Leaders from around the world begin shuffling in. At the front desk is WWCode Community Manager Jodi Loar, who has interacted with many of these people hundreds of times via email, but is only now meeting most of them face to face for the first time. Brittani Smalls, the WWCode Compliance Manager was also helping out, keeping the entire process organized and efficient.

As the attendees step into the hall they are greeted with a full breakfast, snacks, drinks, piping hot coffee and all of the amenities. But that was nothing to the Network tables, each of which were set up with banners, business cards, and other pieces of swag and marketing materials specially branded with their Network names.

As the room got more crowded the conversations started buzzing, with high end technical topics interspersing talks about Network operations, the state of the industry, career advice, and of course the friendly greetings of old and distant friends coming together for the first time, in a long time.

As slides of speakers to come played on the screens behind the main stage, the anticipation grew, and a hush slowly fell over the crowd. Then, Global Leadership Director Joey Rosenberg took the stage, and the CONNECT Leadership Summit began.
