Issue 132

We are building features for the Women Who Code community and we want to highlight that work with our stakeholders, you! THANK YOU to our contributors for dedicating their valuable time to help us build tech a place where women can excel.

You can follow all of our work on github. Below are a few snippets of our awesome features.

Released

We've been working on a lot of exciting features during this weeks sprint. We started work on an ApplaudHer form for the website that will display ApplaudHer's automatically. We also changed the way blogs are viewed, updated some internal documents, added a minimum file size for uploads, updated the Network Get Involved links and so much more!

Added Supporting Partners to the Readme
– Added logos and links to supporting partners that make the development on WWCode projects possible to our README.
– Fixed a grammatical error.
– Added Engineering manager Megan Tiu to list of Core Team members.

Updated Network Get Involved Links
– Links to the Get Involved form were updated on "Volunteer – Get Started" and "Become a Leader – Lead"

Require Upload Files to Meet Minimum Size Requirements
– Modified components/shared/FileUploader.js.jsx to show an error if the user attempts to upload an image that has a width or height smaller than the minimum required size.
– Moved copy into en.yml so that we can translate JS static copy.

Filestack Domain Update
– Replaced any hardcoded URLs that used filepicker.io with cdn.filestackcontent.com.
– Added a one time task to update URLs in the database directly for all models using filepicker fields.

Default Meetup URL for every Network
– Update the get_social_link helper to handle the meetup url since it's format is different from the other social urls.
– Replace .split() method with URI.parse() for better/more consistent url parsing.
– Update specs to include meetup url.

Link to Blog Post in Blog Preview
– Added links to the title and image of a blog preview, to view the entire post. Previously the only way to view the entire post was to click the "Read More" link at the bottom.

Add Stack Specific PR Templates
– Added front-end and back-end PR templates (content taken from shared Google Docs).
– The default PR template (.github/PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md) now prompts contributors to use a PR template specific to the part of the stack they're working in.
– Each template now notifies the correct team when a PR is submitted (front-end and back-end).

ApplaudHer Model
– Started working on an ApplaudHer form that will allow for submission of ApplaudHer's directly from the site's front end.
– The "What did you / they do" model attribute name was changed to "Description" for easier use in the database and code.
– A validation was created for Description to ensure that it is not blank.
– Added Active Admin page to allow admins to create/edit/delete ApplaudHers.
– Added batch functions to update ApplaudHer statuses from the index page.
