Maker Bytes

Issue 157

We are building features for the Women Who Code community and we want to highlight that work with our stakeholders, you! THANK YOU to our contributors for dedicating their valuable time to help us build tech a place where women can excel.

You can follow all of our work on github. Below are a few snippets of our awesome features.

Released

This week the Women Who Code Core Team focused on implementing an improved search functionality across all of the features of the website. We also made some updtes to the new Track Communities and made an important update to our software.

Added

GlobalSearchBar

We have some common functionality across the site for searching for various types of objects, but the display elements and the logic for performing the search are duplicated in multiple places. Now that we're moving more of our front-end to React, we have implemented a component to that we can use in multiple places.

Coding Resources search

We updated the search feature for the coding resources section of the website, to make it easier to find the exact materials needed.

Changed

Use dynamic stats for Track Communities

We implemented a more sophisticated method for tracking the number of people who join our new virtual stack communities through the website.Fixed

Apply job checkbox styles to job clone form

We resolved an error that was occurring when jobs were being cloned, that prevented necessary checkboxes from showing up correctly.

Security

 Update Rails from 4.2.11 -> 4.2.11.1

We implemented an important software update across the website.
