Women Who Code Wins National Coding Week Award

United Kingdom, March 14, 2016 — Women Who Code (WWCode) a non-profit organization that works to empower women around the world to succeed in technology, has been honored in the first ever National Coding Week Award Ceremony in the United Kingdom. They were one of only two organizations that were singled out for recognition of their outstanding contributions towards the promotion of diversity and opportunity within the digital community.
UK Expansion Director, Sheree Atcheson was there representing Women Who Code. She said, “Winning this award on behalf of the work Women Who Code has accomplished in the UK is a great milestone. We have hosted almost 100 events here, which have created new leaders, inspired our members, and brought us into the spotlight for our dedication to showcasing these opportunities to the women in this country. We have been highlighted in Marie Claire, ComputerWeekly, Wired and the Guardian. Here's to another great year.”
National Coding Week is an annual occurrence that sees thousands of people taking part in events across the United Kingdom, including coding workshops for beginners and free online taster sessions. The National Coding Week Awards were introduced this year for the first time to recognise organisations and individuals who have shown their commitment to helping adults in communities across the UK learn crucial digital skills.

Through their events, workshops, and networking nights they are creating a movement across the country that is inspiring women to excel in their technology careers.”
