Women Who Code Surpasses 20,000 Members

The internationally recognized non-profit has tripled in size every year since inception to reach this level of membership.

SAN FRANCISCO, December 15th, 2014 — Women Who Code (WWCode), a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring women to excel in technology careers, recently surpassed 20,000 members. This landmark achievement highlights the rapid growth the group has experienced just shy of its 4th anniversary.

This is an exciting milestone for us, and what is more exciting is that it is just the beginning said Alaina Percival, the CEO of Women Who Code.

"We are growing quickly and working aggressively toward our goal of connecting 1 million women in technology careers. Women Who Code was formed in the San Francisco Bay area as a community group in 2011, and has since expanded, reaching women in 49 cities across 15 countries. Recently awarded 501(c)(3) status in June of this year, the organization began an aggressive fundraising campaign hosting the very first Women Who Code Fundraiser and Awards ceremony resulting in $450,000 in charitable contributions.

This milestone coincides with the launch of the Ft. Collins Women Who Code Network, led by Angela Kosek and marking the forty-ninth Network for the organization. Women Who Code has already achieved massive success in Colorado, with the Boulder/Denver Network surpassing 1,000 members just this year.

To date the organization has executed more than 1,200 free events around the world, garnered a membership exceeding 20,000, and has a presence in 15 countries.
