The internationally acclaimed non-profit with Networks in more than 50 cities and 15 countries has now surpassed 25K members

SAN FRANCISCO, March 10th, 2015 — Women Who Code (WWCode), a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring women to excel in technology careers, recently surpassed 25,000 members. This milestone event highlights the success their efforts have had in connecting women around the world to technology and to each other.

“This is an exciting achievement, and I’m proud of how quickly we have been growing” said Alaina Percival, the CEO of Women Who Code. “Milestones like this energize the whole organization, and reinforce our determination to achieve our goal of connecting 1 million women in technology careers.”

WWCode was formed in the San Francisco Bay area in 2011 as a community group. Since inception the group has expanded considerably, reaching women in more than 50 cities and 15 countries. In 2013 the group was incorporated and by 2014 had been approved as a 501(c)(3) organization. Last year the organization began an aggressive fundraising campaign hosting several events including the first ever Women Who Code Fundraiser and Awards Ceremony. In total, they have been able to raise over $500,000 in charitable contributions from a variety of sponsors including Capital One, Google, Zendesk, Fastly, Yelp, and others.

Of note, WWCode has tripled in size every year since 2011 and just last month they launched in their first African Network – al-Jaza'irs, Algeria. They continue to expand their efforts across the world, with other recent launches including, Mexico City, Kuala Lumpur, Phoenix, and Ft. Collins, CO.

Women Who Code is a global non-profit dedicated to inspiring women to excel in technology careers. The organization prides itself on providing an avenue into tech, empowering women with skills needed for professional advancement, and providing environments where networking and mentorship are valued. To date the organization has executed more than 1,200 free events around the world, garnered a membership exceeding 25,000, and has a presence in 15 countries.
