Technology

The COVID-19 pandemic is changing the world. The current economic crisis caused countless people to lose their jobs, while others are furloughed until the situation is over. Many people find themselves sheltering in place in their homes wondering what to do next.

To address the needs of our members during these trying times, Women Who Code is pivoting our strategy to provide additional digital resources to help you continue your career journey and overcome any obstacles that stand in your way. These digital tools will allow you to continue learning new skills, pursuing employment opportunities, networking with your peers, and developing your professional profile.

Digital Technical Events + Trainings

Last year Women Who Code held 2,000 free career and technical trainings, 200 of which were remote, through our 70 global networks. This year, in response to COVID-19, we are leveraging over 500 volunteer leaders around the world to transform the in-person programming experience into a digital format for everyone around the world to use to further develop their technical skills.

We debuted the new Women Who Code Digital page, which lists remote events led by our Network Leaders that are free and available for all of our members. We want to make you you can continue to sharpen your skills, while networking with incredible engineers around the world, all from the safety of your home.

Online Learning Communities
Women Who Code’s Online Learning Communities launched last year to provide online workshops, seminars, talks, and trainings on several highly technical topics. Now in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our leadership fellows are doubling down to provide even more online events to keep your skills honed to keep you moving forward in your career.

In addition to learning new skills, these communities can also provide you with a sense of community during a time where it is easy to feel isolated. Our online learning communities connect you to brilliant engineers around the world so you help, learn, and grow stronger together.

Remote Work Opportunities

The Women Who Code Job Board always has remote or partially remote opportunities and now we are making it even easier to find them. Due to current events, many companies are switching their job ads to include more flexible remote options. If you find yourself out of work looking for a job, or pursuit of your next big opportunity, you can check out all of the new remote work listings recently posted in the past few weeks.

Online Resume Database
Looking for top technology companies to find you? Upload your resume to our resume database. Women Who Code works closely with a number of tech companies to help them improve their internal policies and clear the pipeline to achieve greater inclusion and diversity on their teams. By submitting your resume, your qualifications will be placed directly in front of the people at those companies that make the hiring decisions.
