World’s Largest Community of Women Engineers Announces Premier Developer Summit to Highlight Front End Technology

BERLIN – 8 OCT 2019 — Women Who Code (WWCode), the global nonprofit working to support women in technology careers, is thrilled to announce Front End 2019, a developer summit designed to explore the latest in front end technologies. The summit will feature innovative talks, in-depth panels, and technical workshops designed to help share best practices and connect talented developers who support each other to level up in their careers. The event is part of the WWCode Front End Community, which hosts monthly virtual workshops and has members from across the globe.

WWCode Front End 2019 is taking place on October 12th at the offices of BCG Digital Ventures in Berlin, Germany. A number of industry luminaries have been scheduled to appear at the event to share technical expertise and actionable advice. Speakers include Sirius Senior Web Developer Amanda Brown, 8fit Engineering Manager Glenna Buford, Contentful Team Lead Khaled Garbaya, and BCG Digital Ventures Engineering Director Maria Gomez. Additionally, the event will feature an online resume option where developers can submit their credentials to connect with career opportunities.

“We’re delighted to host the Women Who Code Frontend Summit,” said BCG Digital Ventures Engineering Director Maria Gomez. “The diversity of our multi-disciplinary teams is critical to us when we’re building new digital businesses. This is one of the main reasons why we believe in providing a strong support network for women in engineering – not only at BCGDV but throughout the ecosystem.”

WWCode Front End 2019 is the in-person culmination of the new WWCode Front End Community, which has provided virtual trainings, webinars, slack meetups, and access to industry experts throughout its inaugural year. Speaking about the summit, community leader and WWCode Front End Fellow Jennifer Ponder said, “these experiences are incredibly important to give engineers access to explore cutting edge technology and build their professional networks so that we can continue to see women accelerate their careers across the industry.”

WWCode Front End 2019 is made possible thanks to the generous support of BCG Digital VenturesTaxfix, and Urban Sports Club. By sponsoring this event, they are leading the way to create a world where women are proportionally represented at all levels in the industry, as technical leaders, executives, founders, venture capitalists, board members, and software engineers.

“Our Track Communities are unique because they bring together engineers with similar technical interests, and go beyond borders. This has allowed us to connect with so many new people, and affect the lives of tech professionals around the world in a more broad and profound way,” said Women Who Code Interim Chief Executive Officer Joey Rosenberg. “WWCode Front End 2019 is a chance to bring that all home, and connect our members not only with new technologies and innovative ideas but also with one another.”
