Women Who Code Announces Applaud Her Awards: 100 Technologists to Watch

World’s Largest Community of Women in Technology to Honor 100 Professionals for Leadership, Skill, and Innovation in the Industry 

ATLANTA – JANUARY 31ST, 2023  —  Women Who Code (WWCode), the largest and most active global community dedicated to supporting the careers of diverse women in technology, is proud to announce the Applaud Her Awards: 100 Technologists to Watch. This will honor 100 technologists that exemplify the values of WWCode and have had a positive impact on the industry. Seventeen individuals will also be given special awards celebrating specific achievements. 

Nominations for the Applaud Her Awards: 100 Technologists to Watch opened on January 20th and will close on February 28th. The winners will be announced starting March 28th and celebrated across the Women Who Code community over the following months. Nominations are open to anyone in the tech industry, and winners will be determined by a selection committee. 

“These awards are important because they allow us to elevate diverse technologists and leaders doing amazing things and highlight their achievements,” said Alaina Percival, CEO, WWCode. “Changing the public perception of tech to demonstrate the value of inclusivity helps us to achieve the core mission of Women Who Code: to empower diverse women to excel in technology careers.” 

In addition to celebrating 100 technologists and their achievements, Women Who Code will also be recognizing twelve individuals with specific awards including Empowering Tech for Social Good, Outstanding Executive in Tech Award, Emerging Technologist Award, WWCode Mentorship Award, Global Impact Award, Leading Change Award, Excellence in Engineering Award, WWCode Founders Award, Inspiring Innovation Award, and two WWCode Mission Awards. Seven individuals will also be given an Applaud Her Award for excellence in specific fields of technology. 

Women Who Code is a global organization that has done significant work over the past ten years to ensure more substantial equity, diversity, and the inclusion of diverse women in the technology industry. With the Applaud Her Awards: 100 Technologists to Watch, they are creating a platform to recognize that technology is being innovated and developed by diverse individuals whose unique perspectives add valuable perspectives to teams and projects across the industry.

Women Who Code hosted the first Applaud Her awards in 2014 when the organization recognized six outstanding individuals in technology. Since then, the scope and nature of the awards have changed, expanding to recognize accomplishments from diverse women in more fields of technology while also transforming into a digital, global experience for diverse women everywhere.
