Spotlight On Kymberli Duffy!

Every month our excitement grows as we continue to share and highlight the outstanding members in our Network. For the month of July, we are shining the spotlight on Kymberli Duffy. This awesome woman came to Women Who Code DFW in February 2018 and since then has left an unforgettable impact on our group.

Kymberli approaches each day with the mindset of learning something new. When she isn’t being an awesome dog mom to three pups or traveling the world with her hardworking partner, she attends the University of Texas-Arlington and works as a Junior Software Engineer at FilmSupply.

Her journey into becoming a developer is both inspiring and nontraditional. Kymberli started out as a photographer and it wasn’t until 2015 that she decided to start pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science after receiving encouragement from her father and brother (who were both software engineers as well).

One piece of advice she’d like to share with women in our industry:

“Stop comparing yourself to others and do what you think is best for you. If you feel like you are meant for something, you should pursue it with every bit of determination you can find in yourself and don’t look back. Also, don’t worry about the age you’re starting at or the time it’ll take you, the time will pass regardless.”

Since joining WWCode, she has been an especially active member for the Fort Worth chapter. From volunteering for any needed positions at events to co-teaching a class on beginner web development, Kymberli is an absolute asset to our network.

Before landing her current role, she’s worked as an instructor at iCode where she taught elementary students how to code, as well as working at a startup called Spacee where she worked as a developer wearing multiple hats.

She attributes her connections with WWCode as being an integral part of her getting her current job, and we’re happy to be a part of her success and journey at every step. We’re so proud of Kymberli’s tenacity and shining ambition. We know she’s going to keep knocking out her goals and we can’t wait to celebrate each new accomplishment she achieves.
