Women In Tech

Welcome one and all to our third monthly Spotlight On! Blog series! For the month of March, we are shining a special light on one of our most active members Jennifer Moore.

You can find Jenn on social media at the handle of Jennplusplus (her personal website/blog) and we strongly do recommend you find her there because you’ll find topical, well-written technical deep dives into subjects like refactoring, what programming language to choose, and many more.

Jenn is a Senior Engineer at Solera with over seven years of industry experience. From the first meeting she attended in November 2018, she has been an immediate resource to Women Who Code DFW. We could not be happier that she has joined our group.

Most of our members share a similar story of looking for a community of women with shared interests in technology and coding. What makes Jenn’s story stand out is that she joined us during her gender transition. While her tech journey began from a young age playing with computers, taking programming classes in high school, and so on; her journey as a transgender woman began a little over a year ago. We are so pleased to provide her with a community where she feels accepted as the wonderful woman and engineer that she is.

Aside from her inspiring story of reclaiming her true self, Jenn is a true asset to our network. Jenn shared her knowledge with our members with a well-done technical talk on unit tests (and truly taught us how to even). She has also stepped up to volunteer to help record video footage for the Fort Worth branch, which has truly been invaluable to growing our network as a whole. Most recently, she provided excellent assistance at our first ever Hack Together as a Subject Matter Expert in JavaScript and C#. Above all else, Jenn is a constant contributor to our network, whether in our Slack channel or at any event within our network.

Jenn has brought a fresh perspective by sharing her journey with us, and we are so grateful to have her as a member of WWCode DFW. We can’t wait to be a part of your story going forward!
