Join Women Who Code on November 28th for GivingTuesday, a day when you can impact the entire tech industry. This year, our theme is “Thrive,” and your support fuels WWCode’s mission to empower women technologists to thrive everywhere, enabling them to advance in their careers and become leaders who can reshape the tech landscape and pave the way for future generations. WWCode works to construct an equitable future for all by fostering diversity in innovation leadership. This transformation is only achievable with your invaluable assistance. Together, let’s make this vision a reality.

Your support means more educational programming for diverse women everywhere, free of charge. It means a tech industry and innovations that are built for all. It inspires technologists worldwide, creates opportunities for yourself and others to grow, and creates an impact that will inspire diverse women in technology to thrive at every level.

Why Your Support Matters

Women only hold 26% of technology jobs, with Black, Latina, and Asian women representing just 10% of software engineers. After only one step up the leadership ladder, representation drops by 28%. Roles in the tech industry tend to be among the highest-paying positions available. Better representation would provide diverse women with more and better opportunities to elevate themselves out of poverty and better support their families. In addition, women tend to reinvest 90% of their earnings into the community.
Lack of representation in tech also has generational consequences. With fewer diverse women leveling up in their careers to leadership, there will be fewer advocates for changing policies that might be holding back the next generation. In addition, those people building and designing the products and services that will make up the future will have a narrower perspective, resulting in innovations that only serve the needs of specific groups.

Help us to increase representation in tech, and together, we can build a better future.

Why Women Who Code Matters

Education and Skill-Building: WWCode has held 17,000 free tech educational and career training events, with an average of 1,900 per year, accessible in-person, virtually, and in hybrid formats. These cover in-depth technology topics, industry trends, advice for leveling up your career, and discussions on some of the most important topics in tech. Over 2,000 of these events have become on-demand videos accessible anywhere, anytime. Through our programming, we seek to empower diverse women with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in their careers.

“Watching WWCode videos on Youtube, listening to the Podcast, participating in webinars, joining the WWCode Data Science Slack Channel and using the vast resources on the Women Who Code website has boosted my confidence.”

Elevate Your Profile: Our events are led by WWCode volunteers, Directors, and Leads, who share their expertise with the community. This has the advantage of giving our volunteers real-world experience in leadership and public speaking. It also allows them to elevate their professional perception and gain status as leaders in the technology community amongst peers and potential employers.

Community: The Women Who Code global community is 360,000 members in 147 countries. That’s 360,000 technologists around the world who want one another to succeed. Connecting with other members can allow you to grow your network, learn about opportunities, find mentors, and develop relationships that can grow your career.

“When I understood just how vast the WWCode network is, my journey felt less isolated. One day, when my skills are more developed, I hope to be a mentor to other women (and people from underrepresented groups in technology). WWCode helps me see that there are women, who genuinely care and nurture, for the sole purpose of helping others grow. This also gives me much needed hope.”

Scholarships, Blogs, Podcasts, Newsletter, Advocacy: There is so much more that Women Who Code does to empower diverse women to thrive in their technology degrees. This year, we’ve given away $580,000 in scholarships and $550,000 in conference tickets. We put out over 100 newsletters and podcast episodes each year. We also put out statements about important advocacy topics periodically, such as human rights, workplace policies, industry standards, and impactful world events.
