Long Time Board Member To Oversee Financial Stability, Fundraising, and Growth for World’s Largest Women in Tech Community

ATLANTA – MAY 24TH, 2023Women Who Code (WWCode), the 343,000-member global nonprofit dedicated to inspiring diverse women to excel in technology careers, is pleased to announce that Sandy D. Welfare, M.B.A., will be taking on the role of Chief Development Officer. A Board Member of the organization since 2020, Sandy will oversee WWCode’s philanthropic outreach and grantmaking efforts in her new position.

Sandy is becoming Chief Development Officer with a deep understanding of how Women Who Code works as an organization, having been a Board Member for the past two years. She also has extensive related experience, including time as the Executive Director of Cool Girls, Inc., and Women in Technology (WIT). Her goal at Women Who Code will be to strengthen and diversify the organization’s revenue streams through giving campaigns and partnership work.

“Women Who Code’s mission and vision are so important to the future of technology and for ensuring that the world is built by and for diverse women technologists,” said Sandy Welfare. “The Women Who Code community has such an important impact on the lives and careers of our members, and I know that with the right support, we can grow our community to empower women everywhere with learning and inspiration to advance and succeed in tech.”  

Women Who Code is a nonprofit that is dedicated to accessibility with all of the programs being free or scholarship accessible. WWCode funds its operations through for-profit ventures such as its job board, allowing 100% of all donations to support member programming. In the past the organization has pursued philanthropic giving campaigns around International Women’s Day and Giving Tuesday. It has also partnered in the grants space with Coca-Cola and Craig Newmark Philanthropy. Sandy will expand on these efforts with strategic drives throughout the year while further developing the company’s network of supporters.
